According to Psychology Today, mindfulness is a “state of active, open attention, on the present.” When you are mindful, you are observing emotions and thought from the “outside” and are not judging them one way or the other. Rather than allowing life to pass by you, you are living in the “now” and are open to experience.

You can use mindful meditation to clear the mind of useless thought patterns. Using this meditation technique focuses on building your conscious awareness – because you become more present throughout the day.
