Psychics, mediums, clairvoyants, psychic-mediums…..all different names for the same thing, right? Wrong. There are distinct differences between psychics and mediums, and it’s vital to understand these differences in order to work out which one you want to see.
Both mediums and psychics can offer invaluable reassurance, comfort and advice, but the key difference is where the information they are relaying comes from.
Psychics and clairvoyants have highly developed senses which can read or pick up information about you from your aura and from your own psychic vibrations. Sometimes, they also receive information from their (or your) spirit guides or angels. Mediums, on the other hand, get their information from your deceased loved ones. For the lay person, this can be confusing, especially since so many practitioners call themselves psychic mediums! The key is to remember that while all mediums are psychic, not all psychics are mediums.
Which Type of Reader Should You See?
That depends on the reason for your visit. If you are bereaved and want reassurance that your loved ones are happy and still around you, then a psychic cannot help you, but a medium can. If on the other hand, you want to know whether you’re likely to change your job soon, or where your life is heading, then a psychic is a better bet than a medium.
Telling the Difference
Most of the information a psychic gives you will be about your present situation, and about how your future may develop (allowing for free will). They will talk a lot about your feelings and your emotions, and about experiences you are going through.
A medium will also give information about your current situation, received from your spirit loved ones, and they may offer some information about your future, if your loved ones wish to share it – but most of your reading will consist of evidence about your past, and about the personality and past of your deceased loved one, to prove to you that they are still there.
Most psychics are self taught. Many mediums, however, may well have developed their psychic abilities naturally, but will have received training to help them make the leap from working with the aura to working with the spirit world. Neither is better than the other, but clients who don’t understand the difference can be left disappointed or troubled by a reading which was not what they expected.
What Not To Expect
If you choose to see a medium, there are further complications just to confuse the issue further. Mediums experience the spirit world in different ways – some see spirit people, others don’t see but hear them, others still are just given impressions in their mind from and about the spirit person. Don’t expect, therefore, a medium to necessarily be able to describe your loved one exactly – look out for proof of another kind instead, with the medium telling you things that only you and your family would have known.
Likewise, don’t expect your psychic reader to be able to pass on a message from your late Uncle Bob. If you are looking for life advice, a psychic’s help can be invaluable, but if you are looking for proof of life after death, then it’s a medium you should see.
